09:00 Private car pickup from your hotel in Hanoi Old Quarter and depart for Halong Bay via new highway
To begin, the Heritage Line team welcomes you at the marina lounge before you embark on an enchanting journey into the tranquil waters of Bai Tu Long which lies to the east of Halong Bay area.
As you make yourself comfortable with suite and the onboard facilities, the Heritage Line ‘Violet’ will start to leave the harbour, sailing deeper into Bai Tu Long. Join us on the deck for an enjoyable gathering with our cruise director to toast to a wonderful journey ahead. With the skyline of Halong City visible to port and the striking limestone karsts of Halong Bay to starboard, enjoy lunch while cruising through this breathtaking seascape.
Once finished, there will be time to kick back until the early afternoon. Enjoy the views from the deck or your private balcony, have a refreshing and strong Vietnamese coffee and just let the time roll by. During a short presentation, you’ll have the chance to understand more about this region, including Halong Bay and Bai Tu Long. Both share the same waters and yet they are defined by different legends.
In the mid-afternoon, there will be time for some active exploration of the quietest part of the bay. The best way to experience the rhythm of this place is by kayak—gliding through calm waters, passing towering cliffs and rocky outcrops, while our guide offers insight into the unique features of the bay.
The ship will then sail a bit further to anchor at a quiet spot for the night. During the blue hour, the bay showcases its most cinematic charms. As evening descends, a multi-course à la carte dinner awaits in the restaurant with some light evening activities offered on a voluntary basis (squid fishing, sun deck meditation, board games). Finally, enjoy a deep sleep on your first night in Bai Tu Long- where, legend has it, dragons once came to rest.

After breakfast, set out to explore the so-called ‘Thien Canh Son’ Cave. After a soft climb (ca. 100 steps) a spectacular panoramic view awaits. Inside the cave, the whole pre-historic geological era unfolds. You can see stalactites like intricate chandeliers, and witness stalagmites growing from the floor resembling blooming flowers. An ancient magic atmosphere pervades that is unique to the region. Later, the cruise will halt at a floating fishing village (named Vung Vieng) that lies near the heart of the Bai Tu Long. Here, local residents work on floating fish farms, a livelihood passed down through generations. A local host will introduce you to their daily life and duties, offering a glimpse into this resilient and resourceful community.
Back on board, lunch is served as the ship makes its way back to the west for an enjoyable late afternoon event. Post-lunch, the crew offers some entertaining workshops onboard. With our first atelier, explore a defining tradition of the bay, the art of pearl cultivation. Observe the precise process of opening oysters and see how pearls are formed, while gaining insights into a craft that has shaped local life for generations. Otherwise, take part in a coffee workshop to get behind the secret of making traditional “Phin filter coffee” with the opportunity to try different Vietnamese coffee blends.
You may also like to opt for a spa treatment before we reach a secluded beach for our late afternoon lifestyle activities. Come barefoot, bring some swimwear and prepare to relax. You can jump into the water, enjoy some sundowner drinks with canapés, socialize or just sit back to enjoy a private moment as the magical light descends once more.
Enjoy your last dinner aboard with evening activities offered again on a voluntary basis.
